Online shopping giant Amazon.com has launched a new automotive offering, which the company says is part of a plan to help consumers make more informed automotive purchase decisions.
On August 25, Amazon announced “Amazon Vehicles,” a “car research and automotive community.” The site is geared toward providing information about new and used vehicles, as well as parts and accessories. For the time being Amazon will still sell only parts and accessories – not vehicles.
In a company press release, Adam Goetsch, Director of Amazon Automotive, spoke about the initiative saying, “Our goal is to support customers during one of the most important, research-intensive purchases in their lives by helping them make informed decisions every step of the way.”
A major part of the initiative is the creation of an online automotive community, allowing consumers to write reviews, share photos and answer questions about vehicles, parts and accessories. Do you think Amazon will grow their “Amazon Vehicles” to eventually be a third party listing provider for new and used cars?
